Online marketplace polymore goes live - The machinery and systems manufacturer KraussMaffei launches a portal for a more sustainable plastics industry

(Munich, October 16, 2019) The online marketplace Polymore goes live at K 2019 today. The aim of the platform is to better connect compounders and plastics processors and to make plastics trading more transparent.

Polymore combines the possibilities of digital with the advantages of the analog world, with personal contact an important element of the platform. Technical experts help determine users' needs in material inquiries and match them with suitable partners in an international network.

The digital venture was launched by the machinery and systems manufacturer KraussMaffei and rounds out the company's offer of modern, sustainable plastics production. In addition to being a source of compounds and recyclates, the platform also allows users to trade post-industrial recyclables, which form an important basis for the production of recyclates. As Josef Art, Business Director at Polymore, explains, this closes a gap to complete the plastics cycle:

"For us, digitization and sustainability go hand in hand. Intelligent and simplified processes are key to the better use of resources. This goes not only for production, but also for the purchase, sale, and re-use of recyclables."

Polymore will officially start trading tomorrow at a ceremony in Düsseldorf attended by KraussMaffei CEO Dr. Frank Stieler and Nadine Despineux, President Digital & Service Solutions. Already, the platform boasts a network of 19 compounders and recyclers offering their materials for sale. Many more are to be added in the coming months. One partner is BZ Kunststoff Recycling, a company from Oberdolling that manufactures high-quality recycled materials—made of what's left from a German automotive supplier's production of bumpers, for instance. "I'm excited about the portal, both the idea and its realization," says Andreas Schweiger, managing director of BZ Kunststoff Recycling, "And I believe our expertise makes us a good fit with Polymore."

The platform was introduced for the first time at Composites Europe in September, where it already awakened the interest of numerous plastics processors. "Right after the trade show, a number of people contacted us with material inquiries," reported Jörg Wittgrebe, Head of Sales at Polymore. Among them were a developmental lab in Poland and a plastics processor in Israel. The interest from international companies shows that there is demand for stronger cross-border networking. Overall, Polymore has already fielded more than 100 material inquiries and offers of post-industrial recyclables.
