BlueAlp and KraussMaffei Extrusion announce partnership to accelerate plastic recycling
- BlueAlp’s patented slow-cracking process produces high-quality pyrolysis oil to make circular plastics
- ZE BluePower twin-screw extruder as key technology for chemical recycling processes
- Contract signing at PRSE in Amsterdam
(Laatzen/Amsterdam, May 6, 2026). BlueAlp, a leading chemical recycling technology company in the Netherlands has announced its partnership with KraussMaffei Extrusion. Unveiled at the PRSE (Plastics Recycling Show Europe) in Amsterdam, the collaboration focuses on BlueAlp’s technology using the ZE BluePower technology from KraussMaffei Extrusion enhancing the overall performance and output quality of the chemical recycling process.
The twinscrew extruders will be installed at the BlueAlp plant built in Italy by sustainable waste management company RES, as well as at BlueAlp’s Oostende plant.
The co-rotating twin-screw extruders ZE BluePower are optimally designed for demanding recycling applications and impress with high energy efficiency. Additional benefits include efficient material processing even at high melt temperatures and high melt pressure.
Successfully validated at the Technology Center
For the pyrolysis process, the ZE BluePower ensures efficient, stable, and reliable conditioning of the plastic material. This has been impressively confirmed through extensive testing at the Technology Center in Laatzen.
The Technology Center will continue to support ongoing process optimization at BlueAlp and provide ongoing support for the applications during operation. This close integration of development and application creates clear added value.
“The BlueAlp project is a prime example of how our extrusion technology can make a decisive contribution to scaling up chemical recycling processes. At the same time, it demonstrates the added value we can offer our customers throughout the entire process development cycle through our Technology Center,” explains Ralf Benack, Managing Director of KraussMaffei Extrusion. “We look forward to collaborating with BlueAlp and working together to drive innovative solutions forward.”
Aiming for industrial scale
Through this collaboration, BlueAlp aims to accelerate the scaling up of its chemical recycling technology and efficiently return plastic waste to the recycling loop.
“This partnership is an important building block in our technology and roll-out strategy. KraussMaffei Extrusion’s proven track record, combined with its ability to adapt and innovate, makes it an ideal partner. Together, we are well positioned to accelerate plastic recycling,” adds Valentijn de Neve, CEO of BlueAlp.
Thinking about plastics in a circular context
The common goal is clear: plastic waste is becoming a valuable resource. In February 2026, the European Union adopted mass balance rules, marking an important milestone for chemical recycling. Regulations, innovation and the value chain are together driving a surge in investment in this sector.
